Jack The Ripper

December 15, 2006 at 8:31 pm (Uncategorized)

IPSWICH, England — British police said Friday they have identified the fifth woman believed to be the victim of a serial killer targeting prostitutes, but were uncertain of the cause of her death.

FOXNews.com – British Police Identify 5th Victim of Serial Prostitute Killer – International News | News of the World | Middle East News | Europe News

Is Jack the Ripper still alive? Maybe. This is scary, and the situation is certainly not getting any better. And still no traces of the killer. All of his victims seem to be prostitutes and the deaths are caused by strangulation. What makes this situation even more peculiar is that the suspect is said to be leaving clues for the police. Lets just hope the pieces of this puzzle will be put together real soon before there are any more clues.

10 Best Movies Of 2006

December 15, 2006 at 8:21 pm (Uncategorized)

High five! After a box-office slump, movies made money again in 2006. Kill-me-now depression sets in only when I list the big winners (Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man’s Chest; X-Men: The Last Stand; The Da Vinci Code). Luckily, it wasn’t just Borat that hit pay dirt without getting slimed by formula pap. Martin Scorsese had his biggest hit with The Departed. And Dreamgirls proved a musical could have grit as well as glitz. And what of terrific movies that barely made a dime? They, too, have pride of place on my list of movies that mattered this year.

Rolling Stone : The 10 Best Movies of 2006

This year was full of “award-winning” movies. It started with the ever-popular “Da-Vinci Code” and ended with controversial “Borat”. My favorite by far would have had to be “Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man’s Chest”, I’m just a big fan of the series. However a close second was “The Da Vinci Code”, Ron Howard certainly “AWED” audiences with this one. In movies, this year was certainly one to remember.

A Tasteful Resignation

December 15, 2006 at 8:11 pm (Uncategorized)

Bush called Rumsfeld “one of America’s most skilled, energetic and dedicated public servants.”"We’ve been through war together,” the president said. “We have shared some of the most challenging moments in our nation’s history.”Rumsfeld was a casualty of growing opposition to the war, manifested in the Democrats’ takeover of Congress. Bush announced Rumsfeld’s departure the day after Republicans were jolted in the November elections.

What are people thinking? Is this real? The question you should ask yourself is Why would someone think of something like this. This is just wrong, period!

Putting Aside Differences

November 14, 2006 at 12:17 am (Uncategorized)

“We give Martin Luther King his rightful place among the many Americans honored on the National Mall,” President Bush told a crowd of about 5,000.King’s memorial, he said, “will unite the men who declared the promise of America and defended the promise of America with the man who redeemed the promise of America.”

With the Democrats now ruling both the house and the senate, our Republican president needs to win support from his fellow americans. His arrival and speach at the memorial service was certainly appreciated by many. It also was comforting for many to see him interacting on a social basis with former DEMOCRATIC president Bill Clinton. Much needed publicity? Maybe, a long lasting friendship with Mr. Clinton? I dont think so.

College Experience

October 12, 2006 at 3:40 pm (Uncategorized)

My “college experience” at The College Of St. Rose is currently evolving at an accelerated rate. I continue to meet new people, both in my major and outside of it. The academics aren’t really all that difficult, to be honest I feel like i’m in high school all over again. My major on the other hand is different, the material in the music education course is not that easy. At first I was dreading all TWELVE of the subjects, but once the academic year progressed the nerves began to deteriorate. Yes I do have a heavy workload, but the satisfaction I get from choosing this major is certainly rewarding.

Terror Detainee Bill

September 29, 2006 at 4:20 pm (Uncategorized)

“The Senate sent a strong signal to the terrorists that we will continue using every element of national power to pursue our enemies and to prevent attacks on America,” Bush said in a statement Thursday night.

FOXNews.com – Senate Approves Terror Detainee Bill; House Moves on Surveillance Bill – Politics | Republican Party | Democratic Party | Political Spectrum

Will this bill be of any use? I’m sure it will be, but the fact of the matter is, How will this “bill” limit terrorism in our nation? There were plenty of “flaws” with President Bush’s wiretapping program according to the left. But has anyone actually done anything about it? This terror Detainee Bil just makes sense. If terrorists are caught they should be detained and incriminated here in the United States, end of story! You cant let this go un-noticed. Thats just plain STUPID!

A Final Farewell

September 21, 2006 at 3:27 am (Uncategorized)

“Steve Irwin touched the hearts of Australians and touched the hearts of millions around the world in a very special way,” Howard said.In a recorded video message from New York, Oscar-winning actor Russell Crowe said: “It was way too soon for all of us. We have lost a friend, a champion.”Irwin, 44, died Sept. 4 when a stringray’s barb pierced his chest while he filmed a TV show on the Great Barrier Reef. His family held a private funeral service for him Sept. 9 at the family-owned park, Australia Zoo.”

FOXNews.com – Thousands Show for Steve Irwin’s Memorial Service in Australia – Celebrity Gossip | Entertainment News | Arts And Entertainment

It seems that The Crocodile Hunter, Steve Irwin had quite a fan base. Over 5,000 people attended the memorial service at the Australian Zoo. All that were there were without a doubt loyal and devoted Irwin fans. It was an emotional and heartfelt ceremony, a perfect send off to one of the animal world’s top personality enthusiast.

“Live From Death Row”

September 19, 2006 at 1:01 am (Uncategorized)

“Defendants charged with killing whites are 4.3 times more likely to be sentenced to die that defendants charged with killing blacks: six of every eleven defendants convicted of killing a white would not have received a death sentence had their victim been black.”

-excerpt from “Live From Death Row, pg 12″

The reason I chose this passage is not surprising. The general idea that is mentioned in the quote is shocking. If this doesn’t scream…RACISM!, I don’t know what does. This is horrible. To simply comprehend the atrociousness of this “fact” is truly mind-boggling. The utter sheerness of the truth seems to make this statement more appealing. If the circumstances were altered or changed I would definitely think that a majority of the American population would feel a little more comfortable, or would they? How would people react? Would they feel the same, or would contradictions run wild? These question seems all to easy. But I’ll leave that for you to decide.
